The department had put out several photos of the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Michael Mangiafico of Seymour after he allegedly robbed the Key Bank in Shelton on Monday.
Shelton Police and detectives, with help from the Seymour Police Department, arrested Mangiafico on Wednesday and charged him with robbery and larceny, said Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.
Mangiafico is being held on $100,000 and will be arraigned later Wednesday in Derby Court, he added.
“The expedited arrest was partially due to the tips received after releasing pictures of the suspect to the public,” said Kozlowsky.
During the robbery at the bank at 794 Bridgeport Ave., Mangiafico passed the teller a note demanding money and implying he had a weapon, the department said.
